How to change your mindset and overcome challenges

Have you ever felt like you can’t quite achieve a goal youset out for yourself? You feel frustrated and start having the “self-talk,”“I’ll never get this!” You tried and tired, but it just didn’t work out…thistime. You didn’t get it now, but trust me you will!  It’s learning to change your mind set bycontrolling your thoughts.

Fixed mindset: “I’ll never get this!”

Growth mindset: “This was harder than I thought, letme see what I can do next time to get it.”

Give yourself some grace and remind yourself that it takes alittle time. Some things in life we are going to excel  quickly and there are many things that we justhave to keep trying and keep practicing until we get it. That’s why it’simportant for you to learn and remind yourself of the word “Yet.” Anytime youface the negativity or when you are struggling with something, you must changethe thought process and challenge it. For example:

Fixed mindset:

I want to learn how to paddle board, but I have no cluewhere to start so I will just watch others do it.

Growth mindset:

I don’t know how to paddle board, yet, but I willfigure out where I can take lessons and will be out there with them soon.

Adding the word yet, gives you hope. Yet- up until thepresent or a specified or implied time; by now or then. (Dictionary.com) Whoknew that a 3-letter word could be so powerful. Add this to your vocabulary daily. You will learn how to channel thepower of yet by working from a growth driven mindset and giving yourself somehope.

Understand the process of your goals, celebrating theprocess and add the word yet to give you confidence and greater persistent toachieve your desired goals. Every time you push forward and out of your comfortzone; you will get more and more motivated and have the ability to learn andgrow.
